Hot Wheels makes some sleek car models like the Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari 599, Honda Civic Type R, Lamborghini Reventon, Jaguar XE SV Project 8, which won our “Best Hot Wheels of the Year“! But some the model cast are cool but the decals and details makes them a let down! Last year, I picked a McLaren Senna(HW Exotics) in orange just to try out some detailing work! That McLaren project went quite well, with that confidence I picked few model purely for customization(detailing).
This Ford Focus RS(2020 Hot Wheels Nightburnerz 9/10) is one those customization candidate and it got its detailing done yesterday, here is how it looks after detailing! In general I am a guy who likes plain body Hot Wheels more than the ones with lot of decals, so even when I picked up this Ford Focus RS, I know I will be doing something to the decals.
Then came the question of what to remove and what not to because some pieces of the decal are cool so the dilemma! I absolutely hated the roof strips so that has to go for sure! And that’s the first one disappeared! Then this Ford Focus got some headlights, front grill gets some black details so as the air intake!
Then the side decals… first I wanted remove all the decals but then thought of retaining the Ford Logo and the “Evans Racing” garphics! So did that to the left side in a flash because its really simple! Then I realized that removing all the decal makes this blunt and too casual!
I am a big Valentino Rossi fan and there was this Fiesta WRC which looks different from right or left side so I followed that approach! And because I hated that gold/black I only decided remove that, which is tricky but the time spend on it payed off! Personally I love this side of this focus even thought my work is not that great!
Finally the rear needed some love, so I painted the rear tail lamp red with me trusty permanent marker, which turned out fine for most parts! The painting part was quite a simple chore, thanks to the groove provided by Mattel! This Ford Focus RS don’t have a license plate, so I may add one at a later point along with painting the exhaust pipe with a chrome sharpie!
I had fun working working with this Focus RS, which is one of my favorite hot hatches right after Mini Cooper! This cast is almost perfect, all it needed is some love/detailing and I guess I did justice to it, what do you think? Leave your suggestions in the comments section below. Till next time… Ciao!
