Kyosho is on a mission to convert diecast collector into resin collectors, yes I am officially tempted! This 1:18 resin Subaru STI S207 NBR Challenge Package looks so good especially in this bright yellow makes me go crazy for it. Kyosho’s attempt to get more people into this hobby by offering cost effective mode with resin body seems to be working… I being a diehard diecast car collector love these resin model and GT Spirit and Kyosho are teasing me with models that we love. With this Samurai series, Kyosho is bring in some legendary Japanese cars featuring exquisite paint work.
Kyosho to release Subaru STI S207 with NBR Challenge package in three colors but I personally love this yellow S207 as it accentuates the purpose pretty well. What you say? The black wheels, carbon fiber spoiler and skirting allover gets more prominence in this bright yellow. One issue with this yellow is the panel gaps(the engraves) looks too much!
Being a sealed the interios gets lesser attention but here in this model its bare minimum! Look at the center console… the air con controls, audio system are flush like a sticker! Come on Kyosho we deserve better, lets assume that Kyosho will fix this with some better here in their production model. If you want this yellow STI S207 with NBR Challenge Package then you have to wait till May this year, that is when this is getting released(more details here).
Another fancy color that could make you bananas for is this blue! Not that catchy as the yellow but its does a decent job. This color comes with a aluminum finished wing mirror, which adds a bit of sportiness. And the best of all, this blue STI S207 hits the maket first and it should reach the stores by now as the official release is this month. Though this shade is out of stock in its site here but other retailer should have it in stock. So start your hut!
And finally for collectors looking for something subtle there is this black, which hold all the trades of the other two color in a subtle package. The mentioned panel engrave issues is subtle due to the color advantage. And this also would see light of retailers by May just like yellow one… for more information check this link
Kyosho is rocking the diecast makers boat and this Suburu STI S2017 starts a new war! Priced at a ¥15,000($140) as per the current info and it feels a little steep but for what it brings in it justifiable(I feel). If you are looking for a blue STI in 1:18 then you should get as early as tomorrow if lucky! If your eye is set for the yellow or the black then you have to wait till end of may, which is not that bad for a cool car to join the collection.
