Porsche 918 spyder is a mid-engined plug-in hybrid sports car by Porsche that can clock a top speed of 340kmph. Being a plug-in hybrid it is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.6-litre V8 engine and two electric motors delivering total of 652kw, which is mind blowing! This Porsche delivers on futuristic style and drive-train keeping the heritage intact. Just like this car’s launch back in 2013 the crowed wow when AUTOart unveiled the news about this Porsche 918 Spyder in 1:18 scale. AUTOart is one manufacturer who makes world class resin like model that have the feel of a diecast and finish of the resin called the Composite… This very Porche 918 will also be made in this composite form not as a diecast scale model just like the previously announced Mercedes Benz AMG GT3.
AUTOart in it’s official publication mentioned that they will release around 6 color variant namely “Riviera Blue”, “GT Silver Metallic/Silver Metallic”, “Glossy White”, “White/Martini Livery”, “Black/Martini Livery” and “Basaltschwarzmetallic/Black Metallic” out of which they have show off the hand sample of “Glossy White” variant. and it is awesome for hand sample.
- Being a composite model this should look mind blowing and we can already see people going crazy to get one into their collection. But the real deal I see with this model is that it comes with fully functional features like the operable doors, hood, trunk, removable roof etc., which is not provided by most other resin model makers.
Being an AUTOart composite model even this hand sample looks stunning and almost flawless when it comes to panel gaps and smooth lines! The wheel pattern looks accurate, body line looks stunning as mentioned earlier and even the pop spoiler is flush in that shut position. Of all the colors AUTOart is releasing this Porsche 918 Spyder, I personally liked the “Martini Livery” in white because of it smart yet stylish decals allover the body and also for the carbon fiber detailing in the roof and mirrors showing off nicely.
Just like other AUTOart this composite Porsche 918 comes with a removable engine cover with mesh grill and removable two piece carbon fiber roof.
- Though a composite, this Porsche 918 Spyder just any other diecast scale model comes with all the bells and whistles like most other AUTOart taking the composite standards to next level. Porsche 918 Spyder is planned for early 2017! My only concern now is the price point this beauty of the beast is going to be released! The model is going thought series of review with Porsche and will see light by early 2017, so if you are planning to get this as your Christmas gift forget it and get some other AUTOart (may be a silver McLaren P1 with red accents that’s is coming home by December)! I anyways will wait for this beautiful Porsche 918 Spyder Martini! How about you?? Ciao.

Is it going to be available in plain colours without the strange black accents ? And what’s with the wheels ? Those aren’t the factory wheels ?
If you want one without the carbon fiber accents and the normal wheels, not weissach like these, go to mini champs, which unfortunately, only opening doors and trunk, no spoiler or roof, for the base model.
