The year 2020 has its own ups and downs, this year also show us all to evolve and survive, which by the way is a big take away! My Hot Wheels collection hobby did had its own ups and downs around March and July due to Covid19 lockdown but then came the after shock! Every Government took steps to prevent the spread and these measures technical hampered my hut big time! This year we dint get all the cases so some of the cooler cast are missed, which includes 17 Lamborghini Urus, 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel, 2020 Koenigsegg Jesko and 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and many more!
Even with all the restriction on I ended up having a good run and picked around 500 pieces, which includes some very nice older casting too! Overall I wouldn’t say its a bad year… Lets get on with it, shall we? First lets get on with some notable mentions… For this year I picked some fantasy AKA non-licensed cast intentionally as they are really cool! Top favourite is the Manga Tuner (82/250), which came in Tooned lot and looks cool in red and triggered my childhood drawing memory!
Party Wagon (147/250), which came in as a part of HW Screen Time 3/10 come in also a notable entry! Though I dint follow Turtle Ninja that much when I was a kid but this cast is really cute so I got him! This Party Wagon is also very detailed and decals all around, making it to this worthy position.
HW Exotics 10/10 Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (164/250) take the next worthy notable entry… This is a cray detailed Lamborghini and the only reason why I dint put him in my “Top 10” is that it is a rerelease and not a brand new cast. Actually I picked quite a few(over 10) duplicates to do some custom work! This Sesto Elemento, gets some deep details like the headlamp, vents and spoiler details.
Lets start with the actual count down, HW Hot Trucks 3/10 91 GMC Syclone(150/250) takes the 10th place. This cast is crazy cool and detailed as hell, the chrome wheels, Syclone decals and stance all contribute to this place. Hot Wheels released two color, black as well as red and I personally loved the black version, which looks cooler indeed.
Next up is 89 Porsche 944 Turbo (47/250), which came in Porsche 1/5 in red. This Porsche is a cool cast and very detailed one too. It comes with front and rear details and the rear clear glass also exposes stethoscope engraved in the parcel tray. This red 89 Porsche 944 Turbo was released in first wave and later a gold version was also released but this red is the one that did it for me!
At eighth place is 70 Dodge Power Wagon (152/250), which came also is a part of HW Hot Trucks (7/10) This lifted truck is the one that is closest to my heart and kept him on Wishlist since I saw the announcement. Though not 2020 new cast, it checked all the right boxes and I cannot find a single excuse to ignore him.
HW Speed Graphics (7/10) Nissan Silvia S13 (111/250) in grey takes the seventh place in my “Top 10” for its clean cast, gold wheels, sleek pain job and sharp graphics! This Nissan gets its place in lower stack because it lacks front headlamp details. But it gets rear taillamp detailing, which is kind of a relief.
Orange 19 Corvette ZR1 Convertible (144/250) rebased under Factory Fresh(2/10) take the top spot in the lower stack of my “Top 10”! This roadster version of 201 Corvette ZR1 is a sleek cost and gets some really cool details like the headlamp decals, hood scope detailing and tail lamps. I gave this sixth position because it looks like the older car with some add-on(same as real car) but that only reason why this dint make to top-5!
Yet an other Factory Fresh (4/10) makes it to my list, and it is none than the Land Rover Defender 90 (199/250) in bright shade of red! This LR Defender looks super tough and the white decals is a nice touch. This shade of red is bright and stands out in any crowd of SUVs, this could have easily taken the top spot if it came with some headlamp and taillamp details instead of side decals.
Blue 98 Subaru Impreza 22B STi-Version (23/250) from HW Turbo (1/5) series takes the fourth place. This is where the things gets tougher and this Subaru put a good fight and secures this place with finesse. This gets all the details like the headlamp, tail lights, logo and even gets a licence plate with Hot Wheels logo on! This was also released in dark red and zamac but this blue is my favourite to enter this list.
I am a big Jeep fan and the 20 Jeep Gladiator (157/250) in red should take a place in my list and I loved it so much and it gets into my Top 3! This came in as a part of Baja Blazers (4/10) and also came in a cream color but this red stood out and directly made it to my “Top 10” Matchbox has been doing this cast for some time but this came with a sight lift and two bikes in the trunk. Headlamps and grill detail gets this hardcore off-roader this high spot.
2019 Audi Spyder (175/250) from Factory Fresh (1/10) take the runner up spot but that was not for that’s for the red version, where the headlamp decals are cleaner! But because I don’t have the red version yet, so put this photo up for reference. This is white Audi is also worthy of this second place so no offence in dropping this pic. This should have been in first place but the front decal is slightly misplaced so the drop in points!
2020’s Top spot goes to blue 2019 Kia Stinger GT (198/250), which was also released in Factory Fresh (3/10) this year. This Kia gets all the best in class as the last year’s winner “Jaguar XE SV Project 8” (full coverage here)… this gets smooth bodywork, great metallic paint job, good tinted glass and to top it all front/rear full decals for lights and grills. This was also released in lighter gray but this blue is the top dog here. Have a wonderful year ahead, Happy New Year!
