KTM Super Duke! Finally I got what I been waiting for… This Super Duke 1290R is the one 1:12 that I been waiting for ever since the News broke that Maisto’s 1:12 lineup for 2014 includes this beasty KTM. When I saw this model in FlipKart.com all I could think of is the way to pay for… and with in seconds the payment is done and my mobile showed a confirmation of the purchase. Then came a long waiting period as this is not in the Bangalore store but some where else! Finally the wait is over and the package from FlipKart landed in my doorsteps.
The box is kind of tiny and I had a doubt about the safety of the model inside… My fear came true within seconds when the Maisto box came into view.. Because of the bad choice of box and lack of bubble wrap caused the box to crush and the entire box changed shape and the visible crack in the box is visible even from a long distance! Bad job FlipKart or its logistics team for delivering such a worst experience!
- No matter how hard I think I finally end up on to the damage to box… The damage is so deep it even affected the inner lining. I still dint returned it because of the love for this KTM Super Duke 1290R. The actual bike model is Intact! This time around the unboxing ended up with an extra note “the model is not damaged in any mean”. Because of the damage to the box I spent almost 5 minutes in examination of the model for physical damages etc.
- This KTM Super Duke 1290R is quite an looker… Once out of the box it come to life because of the paint job and decal work, which impressed us in real bike when unveiled. But on close inspection it show off some of its flaws like the bad diecast work on the rear footpegs, exhaust system end pipe etc. But the it also come some bits to impress serious collectors like in the form of engine decals that are sharp.
On the whole this KTM Super Duke comes with some pros and cons attached to it… You will have wait for the full review before coming to a conclusion. I am happy that I got this model and the experience is ok except for the damages to the box. Hold on and stay tuned for the full review. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year wishes in advance.
