The Porsche Cayman is a mid-engined sports car produced by Porsche AG of Germany. First launched in the 2006 model year, the Cayman is a coupé derived from Porsche’s second generation Boxster convertible. Cayman is an alternate spelling of caiman, a reptile in the same family as the alligator. The car is not named after the Cayman Islands! The 3.4 litre flat-6 boxer engine in the first generation Cayman S was derived from the 3.2 litre Boxster S, but featured cylinder heads from the Porsche 997 S’s 3.8 litre motor which have the VarioCam Plus inlet valve timing and lift system. A less powerful but more fuel efficient version. The use of these new powerplants exclusively in Caymans ended in 2007 when Porsche upgraded the Boxster and Boxster S. A 6-speed manual transaxle is standard on the normal Cayman S and an electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transaxle (Tiptronic) was also available. Other options include active shock absorbers ,ceramic disc brakes , xenon headlights and an electronically controlled sport mode.
Welly makes some iconic Porsches including this Cayman S along with Boxter, GTRs etc. Finished in red, this curve coupe looks beautiful from any angle. The head lamps are the strikingly attractive and they look very good on photos as well as on display cases under spotlight.
The Porsche Logo is nice done and the dimension well mated to the overall dimension of the car. There are no visible gaps between the front bonnet or side panels! The front air dam is very nice and grills behind them is kind of detailed (excellent for a budget model) but the fog lamps aren’t detailed enough to keep up with the beautiful headlamps.
The front ¾ angle shows how swopping lines can create exceptional contour, thanks to designers at Porsche and the diecaster who managed get replicate such a beautiful car with a point to point attention.
The car tents to grow up in dimension longer and longer with the flick of every degree forward in this angle.
The profile stance shows a alligator looks and Porsche DNA embedded on every inch of the bodywork. Tires and alloy wheels look wonderful so as the disc brakes with red caliber. The air intake vents are nice but nothing groundbreaking.
This being a budget model it comes with a rolled down window! and the rear quarter glass shows some glue smudge.
Cayman S being a Mid engined car the front bonnet opens up shows space which can be used for trowing in couple of small bags.
This car features opening doors, boot and bonnet but sadly engine is hidden from view as is in the real car. Hinge mechanism is typically Welly all around.
The doors opens wide enough to reveal the interior which is quite good when compared with other models at the same price point.
The Seats are made up of plastic but it looks very good and even feels rubbery when touched. The contour of the seats are well defined and deeply engraved.
Interiors are nice indeed better than some other makers. The photo of mine make no justice when it comes to this cars interior! The dashboard is detailed and the instrument panel is very clean. Even smaller details like handbrake levers, gear shifters are nice but the seat belts are also provided but almost hidden behind the seats.
Rear view is awesome nomatter its the ¾ or straight up. The rear is all about lines and curves even the huge rear glass is kind of curved to match with the rest of the body work.
can you open the cover of the engine?
Nope! its only the rear notch door can be opened!
Is it a R/C Car?????
Awesome finishing & i loved it too much.
Its in my heart now.
