The Jeep Wrangler is a compact four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle produced by American automaker Chrysler, under its Jeep marquee. It is a successor to the famous World War II ‘Jeep’ vehicle by way of the Willys civilian Jeep. Models were sold under various designation namely YJ, TJ, LJ and JK The model designations are used throughout the world, as well as in the Jeep enthusiast community to differentiate which model is being spoken of instead of using the more ambiguous term “Wrangler” to help identify specifics about them.
What we have in here is a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon designated TJ and is modified version used by Brush Fire Unit 313. The model features a complete fire unit kit starting with the decals, red strobe lights at the roll cage, fire extinguisher, fire hose, chain saw, and also snap on shovels, axe. The aluminum lining on the floor is a nice touch.
The exterior does looks so different from a production version, thanks to the chunky decals on the sides and the hood (I guess done with photo etching) is very sharp and detailed with very little smudge visible even on a closer inspection.
The scaling looks ok, so as the profile and bodywork and the paint job. The independent suspension is really cool and also adds up aesthetic appeal if viewed from lower angles. The hood is secured with a plastic latch, which is nice, but the missing hinge on the hood and the doors is a downside.
It features a functional steering system, doors, hood and tailgate opens and a fully functional independent suspension system finishes the package. Engine bay looks plasticky but nicely detailed for a budget model like this; usage of multicolor material should be given credit for the output in here.
The interior of this model has not many interesting bits as the exteriors but the hanging radio communication handsets are something of a relief. In pictures the upholstery and instrument console looks very bad (only my photography to blame) but is good to some extend.
Maisto has released this model under Premiere Edition so you get a nice fat box with a stackable frame. This is a very nice/bright model in my case not to mention one of the initial dream come true. I always love Wranglers and this guy came in red! So what should be the score? Yes its above par.
Love the detailed model. Have one myself, but missing some parts. Is it possible to get replacements for the removeable parts – shovels, axe, red strobe light. Also passenger side mirror broke off and missing.
